In the Community

Gambles is proud in donating to multiple charities throughout the year, largely focused on supporting local foundations and promoting healthy eating habits.

Currently Gambles donates thousands of dollars’ worth of produce annually to charities including children’s groups, shelters, schools, and events supporting terminal illnesses.

We strongly believe in educating from a young age.  In conjunction with Freggie Friday and the Half Your Plate program, Gambles has been working closely with St. Leo’s School in Mimico, Ontario to promote healthy eating through CPMA’s adopt-a-school program.  This includes a monthly donation of fresh fruit to this school to ensure the students are provided a healthy snack for lunch. Our goal is to create an early excitement over fresh produce, and encourage our youth to embrace healthy snacking choices. Gambles was the recipient of CPMA’s Fresh Health Award in 2011.

Gambles also donates regularly to several food banks across the GTA including The Daily Bread, Second Harvest and Eden Food For Change. In 2014 alone, we donated more than 125,000 lbs of fresh produce to food hampers and it is estimated that these donations have saved food bank clients a total of $507,451.00 at the grocery store checkout.
